Spotlight: Steadily progressive in 1m handicaps, including a reappearance win at Newmarket (good) in April and close seconds from the front in big fields at Ascot on last two outings, in the Royal Hunt Cup on first occasion (good to firm); off the same mark as latest outing (due to go up 3lb) he looks well treated and all set for another bold show.
Spotlight: Fourth of 15 in the Group 3 Jersey at Royal Ascot (7f, good to firm); unbeaten otherwise in two novice events before that and a nine-runner C&D handicap (good to firm) on latest outing; travelled well to challenge in the latter and although he scored by just a neck, from Sisyphean, and has gone up 4lb, there has to be every chance of further progress; big player.
Spotlight: Lightly raced 4yo who was a well-backed winner of the Hambleton Handicap over C&D (good to firm) in May with a late bid, from Sisyphean; respectable fourth of nine to Remmooz and Sisyphean back over C&D for his only start since, coming from last, and it would not be a surprise were he to resume improvement today; one for the shortlist.
Spotlight: Fourth of 16 in a C&D handicap at this meeting last year; while his career-best ratings were registered this January-April, that was on AW and none of his turf ratings lives up to today's mark.
Spotlight: Won here last July and a close second over C&D (good to firm) this term to Old Cock in May and Remmooz in July; best to concentrate on those, rather than two lesser displays this summer at Ascot, so he has each-way claims.
Spotlight: Second in AW novice events on his only two attempts at 1m; confined to 7f by new yard this season, delivering strong late bids for a win at Newmarket in July and a close second at Newbury last Saturday, both on good to firm; ran into trouble early on at Goodwood in between; something similar is a danger given he'll probably be coming from the back today but he settled well last week and is well handicapped (due to go up 5lb) if he gets the trip.
Spotlight: Best efforts last three starts with a win at Sandown, fifth of 30 in the Hunt Cup at Royal Ascot and a close, front-running third off today's mark in Shergar Cup race at Ascot; all those were 1m on good to firm; respected.
Spotlight: Scored just once in 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024 but on the last three occasions it was over 1m in the summer at York and in 2022 it was in this race; 14th and 13th in the last two runnings of it, with reappearance the pick of his mixed record this season, but he's much too well handicapped to be ignored.
Spotlight: Won 7f Bunbury Cup at Newmarket last July and he was denied a repeat this time round by a nose, losing out to last Saturday's Group 2 winner More Thunder; 4l higher today and ran poorly at Ascot on latest outing; last 14 months have been spent almost exclusively over 7f and that's the chief worry, even though he did take minor honours in two warm 1m handicaps last May.
Spotlight: Familiar face at York, including for three wins and five seconds, but he was only seventh (2022) and fifth (2023) in his two tilts at this race; not so good this season as in 2024 but he's also now down the weights, to his lowest mark since July 2023, so he needs a second look.
Spotlight: Peak efforts at 7f but he wasn't far off those when second over 1m in a Shergar Cup race at Ascot (good to firm) on latest outing, a fraction in front of Urban Lion; has a competitive mark.
Spotlight: Led 2f out until well inside the final 1f when third of 21 in Spring Mile at Doncaster (good to soft) on reappearance; that's his only attempt at 1m and there's been some better form at 7f since, including Chester win and fourth of 27 at Royal Ascot (good to firm); disappointing show in the Bunbury Cup at Newmarket sees him returned to 1m today and he needs a career best.
Spotlight: Both of his wins at this track were in 2021 and that's from 24 attempts here; first two starts this season (including third of 14 to Old Cock over C&D) were creditable but markedly better than what's followed, so others are preferred.
Spotlight: Four places at 1m from seven starts this term, including when he hit traffic at Ascot three starts back; never landed a blow when favourite for a Racing League race at Windsor last Thursday; others are more compelling.
Spotlight: Back to handicaps this season, easily best of those runs when close third at Sandown (1m2f, good to firm) three starts back; 11th of 18 in major 1m2f events (York and Goodwood) on last two outings, with possible excuses; one of his best efforts was his second in a 1m Group 2 last summer, so he's not entirely ruled out with this drop back in trip.
Spotlight: Third at Epsom on return was a lot better than either of her subsequent efforts and she's only ever won two novice events, the latest in June 2022; some stiff tasks, admittedly, but others have more pressing claims.
Spotlight: 8yo who's won 11 races overall and has a 5-8 record on the Newmarket July course, which were his last five wins anywhere and include two in the space of ten days last month; Glorious Goodwood did not go nearly so well and he was only fifth back at Newmarket last Saturday, so the time to latch on to him may well have passed again; sixth in this race in 2023.
Spotlight: Ex-Godolphin and missed 2024, still lightly raced; had a win and a good second over 1m in June when the hood went on; those have been followed by three modest displays, including with the hood restored on latest outing, and he needs a big personal best to win this race.

Further improvement from last month's C&D scorer REMMOOZ (nap), the only 3yo, can account for some highly respected rivals in this larger and stronger field. His only defeat in four races came in the Group 3 Jersey at Royal Ascot. Bullet Point will surely ask big questions of them all, judged on his two seconds at Ascot, including in the Royal Hunt Cup, but Old Cock, with more improvement in him, may pose the chief threat. Leadman delivering the same strong challenge he's found over 7f could also spell danger and he completes the shortlist, ahead of Blue For You and Urban Lion.[Richard Austen] Show less
